OUR STORY
The Story of Writing Hacks Academy: From a Spark to a Movement
Writing Hacks Academy was born out of a calling—to serve others through skill and passion. For founder Jonah Chipeco, that calling was writing and public speaking. But long before it became a full-fledged online writing school for business communication and content creation in the Philippines, it began with a little girl who simply loved words.
This is the story of how a childhood spark became a movement—and how one woman’s mission to write, and help others write, changed the way thousands communicate their value to the world.
It started in a grade school classroom. Jonah’s first-grade teacher noticed her natural flair for words and encouraged her to write. By second grade, she had already won a division-wide feature writing contest in Tagalog and began crafting her first poems and novelette. In fourth grade, another teacher recognised her gift for English communication and sent her to compete in extemporaneous speech contests—where she also won.
These early affirmations taught her something powerful: confidence blooms when someone believes in you. Mentorship matters. And writing, when nurtured, becomes a force that shapes voices and futures.
As Jonah stepped into adulthood, she realised that many professionals lacked the same kind of guidance she had received. Especially those transitioning from school to career, from employee to freelancer, or from entrepreneur to coach. They were expected to write emails, business proposals, sales pages, training manuals, and client content—yet very few had ever been taught how to write them well.
That gap became her mission.
In 2018, after years of working in marketing, freelancing, and resource speaking, Jonah founded Writing Hacks Academy (WHA)—a training platform designed to equip professionals, freelancers, and coaches with real-world writing skills.
From business writing workshops and content writing masterclasses to ebook development and brand storytelling, WHA became a hub for Filipino professionals eager to write with purpose and impact.
What began as a personal calling to teach has grown into a movement—fueling communities like the Writerpreneurs and Pen Movers, reaching over 10,000 learners through newsletters, webinars, and in-person workshops.
Today, Writing Hacks Academy continues to stand as a trusted resource for business writing training in the Philippines and beyond—empowering entrepreneurs, remote workers, and content creators to write with confidence, clarity, and authenticity.
Because here at WHA, we believe writing isn’t just a skill—it’s a door opener. A brand builder. A career changer.
And as we begin our next chapter, we invite you to write yours—with us.
